Realign with your natural pace - Target the cause, not the symptoms

The pace of the world feels (and it is…) ruthlessly fast and chaotic.

The more I become aware of that, the more I find myself in an energy of inertia. It is as if I am instinctively trying to balance out that fast paced rhythm our societal structures and technological advancement have imposed on us.

To me- and probably to the majority of us- it’s crystal clear; Our nervous system is constantly in hypervigilance. We’re constantly ‘on the go’. No wonder then that autoimmune diseases, emotional and physical burnouts (exhaustion), and various mental health issues have drastically increased over the last decades.

Those symptoms have also driven the creation of a whole new industry around them. And although this new industry of health care and wellbeing systems are great in treating the symptoms, they do not actually target the real cause.

The actual core issue and basis for all the symptoms is our dysfunctional and unnatural pace of living.

Our developed societies’ pace is clearly NOT in alignment with our physical and mental wellbeing. You don’t need to be a health expert to see that! We all get to experience that at this point in one way or another.

Our bodies and brains - as part of nature- are simply not equipped and designed to function in balance and homeostasis under such a frantic pace; let alone to receive and process all the input we receive daily.

And yet, the pace of living- primarily due to the increased demands and expectations consumerism and technological advancements impose on us- continues to become faster, more demanding and more exhausting than ever.

Our energy and intentions are scattered all over the place 24/7. Our sleeping rhythms and patterns are also disrupted. Noise and chatter runs non-stop in our minds and bodies. Unspoken thoughts, unexpressed feelings, expectations and desires all wrapped up and interwoven into an experience of inner conflict, create a mixture of confusion and overwhelmingness for our nervous systems.

—————-

For the majority of us- regardless of whether we are aware of this fact or not- the pace our current societies operate in, is considered ‘normal’.

But it’s important to realize that normal doesn’t mean natural.

Normal is subjective. Natural is objective.

The solution? Simple but not easy!

Start observing your daily life and how you feel. Approach it with curiosity. Avoid putting (additional) pressure on yourself about this.

Find ways to slow down, pause and listen to your own body. Tune in to your own personal rhythm as much as possible, even if that is for just a moment, at first. Take it one step at a time.

The more you become aware of the dissonance between your own natural pace and the pace you are called to follow by today’s society, the clearer and louder the inner discomfort of following an unnatural rhythm will become. Steadily and surely, it will become easier for you to actually re-align with your inner pulse and (re)establish your own natural tempo of living.

If you’ve already started listing a bunch of ‘logical’ reasons why you cannot do that, ask yourself: What makes me avoid showing myself love and respect?

For whatever it’s worth, I believe in you! You can do that!
